As Christians, we don’t do what we do out of obligation or earn God’s favor. Instead, it’s a way for us to show our appreciation, respect, and thanks to the One who loves us even though we were His enemies and sinners.
As new creatures in Christ, we embark on a faith journey that takes us deeper into God’s love, His character, and His blessings and wonders, all of which are becoming more apparent as we grow in our relationship with Him.
Because of this, it’s only appropriate that we praise the One who spared us from everlasting damnation and restored our hope thru the lights of His forgiving love and grace, isn’t it??”
On the other hand, to “respect” God, what does that entail?
The followers of Jesus are passionate and honor his teachings to the core. If you want to show your love for Jesus than, buy a Jesus t-shirt and embark on the journey of honesty and virtue.
What Is the Purpose of Honoring the Jesus?
Honoring God entails first and foremost recognizing Him as the Supreme Being in the cosmos and on the planet Earth. His magnificence and strength are unmatched by any other person, power, spirit, or force in the cosmos, from the most fantastic world to the smallest particle of sand.
For one thing, we need to understand that we are all sinners and so need a loving Savior to protect, lead, and love us as we go through life.
God’s honor comes through our submission and trust that He has an excellent plan for our life (John 10:10). Even when we don’t understand why horrible things are occurring, we must obey Him and trust His methods.
The most important aspect of honoring God is to love Him for whom he is, not just what he has done for us.
Humanity Fails to Honor God
Our failure to treat God with respect and dignity results from the ultimate sacrifice he made by giving up his own Son for us.
Apostasy from God’s commandments and worship of alien deities are documented in the Bible. When God saw the people’s iniquity in Job 6:5-6, he was so disturbed that he almost regretted creating them.
Israelites walked away from God and worshipped a golden calf idol constructed from melted jewelry and ornaments when Moses traveled to Mount Sinai to learn God’s commands.
Humanity today has made the same choice to worship the world’s idols like wealth, fame, and power instead of placing their trust in God.
According to Romans 1:21, “For even though they knew God, they neither praised nor thanked him as God,” but rather “their reasoning became meaningless and their stupid hearts were darkened.”
Let others know about God’s love for them by spreading the word about Him.
All of us, as God’s children, have a responsibility to share the gospel with the world (Matthew 28:19). As a result, ask God how you might spread His word.
Serving others, giving money, going on missions, or even hosting a Bible study group in your house are examples of ministering, assuming existing societal norms allow it.
Additionally, you may provide a hand to your neighbors, call a buddy who is feeling alone, or buy a person on the street a cup of joe.
To display the love of God, which is in your heart, is more critical than to express it verbally. And it’s this love that others see and reacts to that will make a difference in their lives. Try to live your life following God’s teachings via love, respect, and trust. God pardoned you, so forgive others.
Show love physically
Eventually, treat your body as a temple to God. When you worship and praise, bow down, kneel, or raise your arms in a posture of submission and humility.
Those of us who like football games or concerts should come as no surprise that we may also show our reverence for God by jumping about and raising our arms!
Maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and abstaining from addictive substances, and indulging in immoral sexual practices are all ways to respect God with your body.
