Check For Leak

It is the warm weather that allows you the opportunity to check for a leak whether big or small before winter comes knocking again. Inspect the plumbing inside and outside your home. Check all the faucets, pipes under the sink, showerheads, bathtub spigots. Also, you need to check the drinking water line behind your refrigerator, water softener connections, and water heater. Lastly, do not forget to carefully inspect the outdoor spirits, service tips, lawn sprinklers, and the pool.

Look for rust, corrosion, broken or bent parts, leaks, or any other sign of trouble. This way, you will be able to detect the issue before it becomes a big problem for your home.

Check Water Pressure

As you know, more people equate multiple usages of water outlets all at once. You would want to make sure that the pressure of the water will be able to sustain the traffic.

You can check and measure your home water pressure with a gauge that you attach to an outside spigot. The standard water pressure for households is between 40-45 pounds per square inch and shouldn’t exceed 60 pounds per square inch.

There is a pressure regulator between your home and the main water line which is to keep high-pressure water from bursting into your home. It is advisable to request the assistance of your water company or professional plumbing services if need be in adjusting your pressure regulator to measure with your materials needs.

Inspect Sump Pump

Sump pumps in the basement are overworked during winter to prevent the basement from flooding. Most often, after winter, they need maintenance.

To check if your sump pump is working, fill the basin up with water. If the water doesn’t drain or takes long to drain, then you should know you need to call a professional plumber to repair the sump pump.

Maintenance of Water Heater

We all know during summer, there is less need for a water heater. But a water heater when left unused for a long time will possibly develop issues as the valves may become damaged. So, make sure you switch it on periodically to ensure its efficiency.

Clean Your Drains

Your drains or gutters and fixtures will be in massive usage during summer. This can lead to clogging if the ducts are not clean from the collected debris of last winter. So check the drains and make sure you properly removed all debris.
