A few weeks ago, my wife went on a Caribbean cruise with her best friend, Olivia. Our daughter is in college, so I had the house to myself for a whole week. Not a bad deal, right?
Here’s how I spent the time alone!
Mowed the Lawn and Took Care of My Home
First, I took care of the lawn. I hadn’t had a chance to mow in a while, because I’ve been so busy juggling work and family obligations. So, the first day my wife was gone, I got up early, trimmed the lawn, and tended a few bushes. It made a huge difference—the yard looked so clean, fresh, and beautiful!
We also have a tiny pond in the backyard that needed some cleaning. It hadn’t been groomed in a while, and I noticed weeds growing around it, so I decided to tackle it then and there.
I also plucked the garden in the front yard. It was a lot of work, but it made a huge difference. It looked like a jungle before, but now the peonies are the center of attention!
Invited Friends Over to Grill and Chill
It has been a long time since my friend group got together, so I decided to invite everyone over and have a cookout. For my 50th birthday, my wife bought me a new grill, and I was so excited to use it. I thought it’d be a great way to kick off the week: burgers with the boys!
We cracked open a few cold beers and watched the football game on the back patio. We have a TV on one of the walls and several deck chairs, so it easy as ever to kick back.
It was a great evening. Everyone said my grilling had gotten so much better since the last cookout, too, which was great to hear!
Learned How to Brew from Home
I’ve wanted to learn how to brew my own beer for years, but never got around to it. A few months ago, my wife commented that I should try finding more hobbies to fill my time, and that’s when I realized brewing would be a fun thing to do. This week was a good time to start!
This past Christmas, one of my favorite gifts was a small beer brewing kit, so I took a crack at it after watching some online tutorials. Although the brew is nowhere near finished, I have a good feeling about it. I can’t wait to taste it and see how it turned out.
Who knows—maybe, one day, brewing could become a lucrative side hustle!
Tried My Wife’s Advice with Facial Rejuvenation
Lately, I’ve been feeling physically and mentally run-down. I asked my wife what I should do, since she always seems so young and full of energy. She suggested that I start a new facial rejuvenation routine complete with skincare and helped me create my own!
It has only been a week, but already, my routine has done wonders. My skin looks a lot brighter, and my face feels smoother, too. I’ve also noticed that my wrinkles have faded thanks to a serum I’ve been using. Of course, I don’t look like a different person, but it’s nice to appear even slightly younger. There are a handful of other facial techniques to try out, including laser resurfacing and skin peels, so I’m excited to explore this new world of possibilities! This routine will help me in the future when I am ready for a male facelift.
The night my wife came home, I had dinner cooking in the oven, and the timer dinged just as I heard her keys in the front door. The aroma of freshly cooked chicken filled the whole house, and I could tell that she was ecstatic. I couldn’t have been happier to see her, either!
