Everything You Need to Know About EMF Protection for Home

August 13, 2021 by Andrea Fonseka

There are invisible things that could kill us.

Viruses, bacteria, and radiation are just some examples. Before we fully understood their effects, people thought that these were hoaxes. When Marie Curie protested against the use of radium enema and tonics for therapy, only a few believed her.

Now we know that radiation poisoning is very real and what eventually killed the Nobel Prize scientist.

That said, let’s talk about EMFs or electric and magnetic fields. Is it another invisible killer we should worry about? Is it time to invest in EMF protection for home health?

While there’s not enough research yet about the safety of EMFs, some experts report various adverse health impacts. So if you’re a believer in “better safe than sorry,” it wouldn’t hurt to know your options for best emf protection.

Here’s what you can do to EMF-proof your home.

EMF Protection for Home Starts With Identifying EMF Sources

These days, try as we might, most of us can’t live without advanced technology surrounding us. Unfortunately, some of the conveniences of modern living are sources of EMF radiation.

We can classify EMF radiation as either ionizing or non-ionizing. Scientists have already verified that ionizing radiation, such as UV, x-rays, and gamma rays, can harm our health. But it’s the non-ionizing EMF that researchers are still studying.

Sources of non-ionizing EMF abound in the home. Some of the most common examples include:

  • Cellphones
  • Microwave ovens
  • WiFi routers
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Desktop computers and laptops
  • Electrical wiring

Possible symptoms linked to non-ionizing EMF include fatigue, headaches, and memory loss. You may also experience sleep disturbance, weak immunity, and stress.

Avoiding EMF Exposure

The NIEHS recommends continued education on practical ways of reducing EMF exposure.

One of the oft-mentioned EMF sources is cell phones. Many sleep with their smartphones under their pillows or next to them on a nightstand. A simple way to reduce your exposure to potentially harmful radiation is to avoid sleeping with your phone.

Turn off computers, routers, and other EMF gadgets if you’re not using them.

It’s also best practice to maximize the distance between your body and EMF-emitting devices. Studies show that EMF radiation gets exponentially weaker with distance. Therefore, you can significantly reduce your exposure to EMF by not carrying your phone all day or keeping your bedroom tech-free.

EMF Protection Products

Most of the time, we simply can’t avoid the numerous sources of EMF out there. For example, you may be living near a power line or a cell tower, or your neighbor has a powerful WiFi router.

If you don’t have control over the amount you’re exposed to, emf-protection.co.uk recommends EMF shielding. EMF shielding is the practice of reducing EMF waves by creating barriers made of conductive materials.

These products often have a metal woven into the fabric that serves as an effective deterrent. Some of the EMF products available in the market include bed canopies, clothing, and other accessories.

Play It Safe

Learning about the ways to set up EMF protection for home security and health isn’t an out-of-this-world notion. While we’re still not 100 percent certain if these invisible waves are harmful or not, there’s nothing wrong with practicing caution.
