The holidays are around the corner (already) and no matter whether you live in Hawaii or the North Pole, it’s time to get into the spirit of the season. Since it can sometimes seem like it’s a lot of effort to do so, we wanted to share a few fun ways that may help you this year.
As you’ll see, that doesn’t mean that you have to put so many Christmas lights on your home that you’ll need to update your electrical panel. From little things around the home to doing something special for your loved ones, sometimes simple is better.
1. Your Attire
This time of year a lot of people opt for ugly sweaters, and while those can definitely be fun ways to embrace the season of course, you can stand out this year by grabbing a couple of funny Christmas shirts. By wearing a Christmas tee with a cute graphic or clever pun, you can make people smile wherever you go.
2. Decorate Your Workspace
Grab a couple of strings of LED battery-operated lights, some garland, and fake snow and decorate your cubicle or home office. Having a little bit of holiday cheer around you throughout the day can definitely help get you in the holiday spirit. Also, decorating with a cohesive look and feel may be easier than you think. There are great places online that can help with inspiration, such as Decorator’s Warehouse, don’t be afraid to check out different styles and colors until you find the perfect fit for you.
3. Go a Little Crazy
Though you may not be able to do this one if you work in a traditional office or certain other environments, if you’re lucky enough to be doing your job from home, consider dying your hair.
Going with some bright colors such as red and/or green coupled with your fun Christmas shirt can let everyone know that you’re embracing the season.
4. Create a Playlist
There’s virtually no better way to get in the festive mood than by creating a playlist of great Christmas songs. Grab some Bing Crosby, Elvis, Mariah Carey, and all your favorites and crank them up at home and in the car. Additionally, make yourself a list of holiday movies and watch one or two a week, especially as the big day gets closer.
5. Do Some Baking
Chocolate-covered pretzels, holiday cookies, pies, and other baked goodies are a delectable way to not only enjoy the holiday season yourself, but spread a little joy to family and friends.
Get a few holiday tins and fill them up and share baked goods with those close to you. This can also make great gifts for coworkers, neighbors, your postal carrier, and others that you want to do a little something special for.
6. Show Off Your Holiday Spirit
When you decorate your office or pack up a bunch of treats, take photos and share them on Instagram, Facebook, and your other social media accounts. Make your friends and family smile and put on your ugly sweater or funny Christmas shirt, wrap yourself up in those battery-powered lights, put a bow on your head, and show off a little bit.
7. Do Some Crafting
There are a lot of holiday decoration DIY projects that can be fun and easy ways to help you slide into the season. Consider making homemade Christmas cards around Thanksgiving and getting them out early.
Search online and learn how to make ornament trees, dried citrus garlands, or creative centerpieces. Crafting some of your own decorations will give your space a personal touch and a bit of added flair.
Getting into the holiday spirit can be a little tricky in the best of times, and heaven knows that the majority of us have had a decent bit of stress lately. As such, this holiday season we should all try to do what we can to not only get ourselves in a better mood, but cheer up those around us as well.
Whether you use one of the tips above or you try them all, they will enable you to enjoy the holidays while having a little fun.
