Tips For Selecting Commercial Lighting

August 9, 2021 by Andrea Fonseka

Running a business can be fun and exciting. However, it comes with a lot of responsibilities. You’ll find that choosing the right lights for your commercial building will make a big difference in the long run. Get it wrong and you may overpay. In addition to this, you may not have enough light. If this happens, it’ll be difficult for your workers to see. Avoid problems by ensuring you get the perfect lights for your business or manufacturing facility. Below, readers will find out how to pick the right lights for their business.

The Purpose

First and foremost, you need to know what purpose the lights are serving. Ultimately, this is going to be immensely important. You need to find out which lights are going to work best for your business. Are your workers going to be assembling small electronics? If so, they’re going to need brighter lights so they can see the tiny components. Are you looking for lights for an office building? When picking lights for an office, you must remember that your workers are going to be using computers. Therefore, dimmer lights might be better.

Figure out what you need and what you’re trying to achieve. Once you’ve done this, you’ll know what is going to work best for you.

Consider The Beam Angle

Don’t forget to think about the beam angle. It will prove to be very important in the long run. Once you’ve determined your ceiling’s height, you can begin working on getting the right beam angle. With a 5-foot ceiling, the light on the floor at a 15-degree angle would be 1.35 feet. At a 25-degree angle, it would increase to 2.25 feet. You don’t want the light to blind your guests so consider checking a beam angle chart so you can find out what will work best for your guests.

Longevity

Remember that some lights are going to last a bit longer than others. Either way, you’ll have to replace them at some point. It is often best to choose the longest-lasting lights you can find. Doing so will make a big difference in the long run. For instance, you can rely on information from LITELUME to determine which lights will last the longest. Ultimately, lights with better longevity are likely going to cost more. Nevertheless, they’ll prove to be well worth it. Spend a bit more so you don’t need to replace your lightbulbs too early.

Brightness

Finally, you need to focus on getting the perfect brightness. It might seem like a small factor, but it’ll prove to be very important in the long run. Make sure that your lights are bright enough for your workers. If you’re going to be working on a computer, you will be better off with dimmer lights. If you need to work with small components, you need brighter lights. Again, you need to find out what you’re going to do so you can go from there. Once you’ve figured it out, you should pick the brightness that is going to work best for you.
