When it was first released back in 2010, the iPad became a standard for tablets everywhere. Everyone scrambled to get their hands on this cutting-edge technology.
That hasn’t changed even today. The tablet can be pretty costly to get your hands on, but the sure amount of features available to you make it worth it. That is if you’re willing to use certain iPad hacks to make the most use out of your device.
There are a ton of ways that you can organize apps and make working on a tablet easier. So, what are you waiting for? Grab your iPad, and let’s get started!
- Get Yourself Organized
If you’re like many people, you’ve got a ton of apps littering your home screen. Having one or two there that you use on a normal basis is fine.
When it becomes more than that, it’s hard to stay on track with the programs that are actually useful to you. The quickest solution to this is to sort your apps into folders.
All you have to do to make the most out of this helpful feature is to press down on one of your apps. From there, click edit home screen and drag the app you chose over another one. This will create a folder that you can rename to be whatever you want.
- Stay in Charge of Your Apps
Is your tablet running too slow for your liking? The reason for this is most likely your apps. If you have too many of them open, your device will begin to chug.
You can identify what you have open by swiping up from the tablet’s dock. You’ll then see windows that display everything that you have open. You can close the ones that you aren’t using by swiping upward.
If you need to switch to a new app, tap on the one that you want active. We will warn you that this method won’t help you spot the programs that you have running in the background.
To do this and spot those hidden energy hogs, head over to your battery settings. Underneath the section that displays the overall health of your battery, you’ll see a list of apps that are taking up the most memory. If you close them, it should speed things up a little.
- Make the Most Out of Your Control Center
If you swipe down from the right side of your iPad screen, you’ll see your control center. You can do a lot of neat things from here. You can change your screen brightness.
You can also play around with your screen orientation and Bluetooth settings. If you have smart appliances in your house, you can use the control center on your iPad to control those as well. This is super handy if you have a wall mount for touchscreen tablets.
- Create a Fail-Safe
You’re sitting at a coffee shop working on your iPad when your order is called. You space out and leave your tablet at the table while you go get your cup of caffeine.
When you get back, your iPad is gone. Whoever took it now has access to all your confidential information if they can guess your password.
That is unless you have a fail-safe in place. Go to your settings and head over to the Touch ID & Passcode section. If you scroll down, you’ll see Erase Data.
By activating this feature, your data will erase itself when that intruder fails to guess your password ten times. If you’re the kind of person who tends to type their password too fast and mess up a bunch, this might not be something you want to enable.
You can still booby trap your device in a way. By playing around with your settings, you can choose the extent of what your device can do when it’s locked.
- There’s a Secret Trackpad
If you do a lot of text editing on your iPad, we have a feature for you. If you touch your keyboard with two fingers at once, it will turn into a trackpad.
As you move your fingers around the screen, the cursor moves with you. This is one of the more hidden iPad tips that are available to you.
- Stop Those Pesky Notifications
You’re sleeping at 2 Am when your tablet lights up with a notification. The glare wakes you up, and it takes you forever to get back to sleep.
There are iPad tricks that can help cut down on your frustration. Go to your settings and click on the Notifications tab. Here you’ll be able to silence certain applications.
- Use Two Apps at Once
What are the best iPad apps for if you can’t use them to the full extent of their abilities, or at least be able to use them better? Let’s say that you want to type something up in Pages and do some research in your internet browser at the same time.
With your browser open, select Pages from the dock and drag it up to the right side of your screen. It should snap in place so you can view both programs at once.
- Text Shortcuts
Do you find that you use the same responses a lot? Cut down on your typing time by creating text shortcuts for the things you say the most often.
Go to your settings menu and click on General followed by Keyboard. Tap Text Replacement and hit the little plus button. Type what you want to say in the phrase box, for instance, your phone number.
You’ll then go to the shortcut field and type in the word you want to trigger what you typed in the phrase box. In the case of our example above, you may use “number.”
