Sarees have been an all-time fashion for Indian women for ages and in today’s time of Western outfits, they have become very unique for some special occasions such as weddings, parties, or festivals. But every time we have to dress up there is a constant struggle between how to drape sarees in the most stylish way and how to give a new look to a simple saree. In this article, we’ll have a look at how we can wear sarees in different and stylish ways.
A simple and stylish way to drape a saree.
11 Stylish Ways to Drape a Saree
1.Add a belt
One of the most stylish ways to drape a saree is to add a belt on the waist or we can also use the Kamarbandh which is a traditional piece of jewelry since ancient times. This will provide a classic look to the saree and adds a fresh look as well.
2. Add a cape to the blouse
Adding a cape to the blouse to cover the top area looks very beautiful and adds a new look to the regular sarees. We can add the silk drape, embroidered cape, or a net look drape to the blouse which is matched with the color of the blouse or saree. Adding both a cape and a belt together is also becoming one of the top new styles and provides an extraordinary look.
3. Opt for a dhoti style
In a dhoti style, we have to switch from the normal petticoats to leggings or dhotis. This is the most comfortable style of wear sarees with walking becoming so easy. We can opt from different styles of dhotis such as pre-plated dhotis, ankle-length dhoti, or knee-high dhotis.
4.Go retro with Mumtaz-style
Going retro is underrated but with the Mumtaaz style saree, this has never been the case. The flavor of the 60s in this new era is something that is still fresh. In this look, we have to drape the saree in a way that a small border on the lower skirt goes from the top to bottom without the need to make a normal plate.
5.Opt for a Sharara
Instead of petticoats, we can opt for shararas which are flowy from the bottom and are tucked like pants. They are very comfortable and we can either wear them in the same color as the saree or can also mix the colors with a good combination.
6.Give the pallu a neck-look
In this style, we have to use our pallu and cover the neck just like a scarf. In this look, we don’t have to worry about wearing a neckpiece and the pallu itself gives that look and we can pair it with small earrings.
7.Give the pallu a butterfly look
The butterfly look involves making very thinner plates of the pallu which must be equal to the border size when tucked on the shoulder and then making a little flowy in front. This makes sarees more beautiful from the bottom and also gives us a slim look.
8.Opt for a front pallu
A front pallu style includes tucking the pallu in front similar to what Gujarati women wear which provides a lehenga look to sarees. We can avoid covering the whole front with pallu and just take the pallu from the back and tuck it to the right shoulder.
9. Opt for crop top blouses
Instead of normal blouses, we can go with crop top blouses which are the same as what we wear in jeans or pants. This is the normal and the best look for farewells or office parties because you can wear them with small bordered and plain sarees.
10.Go with a lehenga look
We can drape the saree like a lehenga at weddings or festivals and don’t have to worry about purchasing a new lehenga every time. We have to drape the saree in such a way that from the bottom it looks like a lehenga and from the top, there is an open pallu to give the dupatta look.
11.Make the never-ending plates look
This style looks like various plates coming from here and there and we cannot identify where the ending and starting are. In this style, we have to drape the saree on an anti-clockwise move and make the pallu first. After that, we have to leave some plates open on the right side of the waist from where the plates end and where the pallu starts.
Ending Note
However, there is no ending note to this article because the styles to wear sarees are ever changing with old styles making a comeback and the discovery of new styles. All the Bollywood divas, influencers, and designers always try to give a new way of draping our traditional costume, the Saree.
