How Can I Improve My PMS Symptoms

PMS stands for premenstrual syndrome. It occurs in women a few weeks before the beginning of their menstrual cycle. For some women, it is mild while for others it is hard to do the daily routine tasks with these symptoms. Causes of PMS:

The main reason for PMS in women is not fully understood yet. Though, experts believe that it is because of the hormonal changes the women’s bodies go through during the cycle. Some women get more affected by PMS than others. It depends on the tolerance of their body or the level of hormonal changes in them.

Symptoms Of PMS:

Not every woman goes through the same symptoms. Everybody is different and so are the symptoms. Here are the common symptoms of PMS:

  • Headache
  • Dull and spotty skin
  • Oily hair
  • Low sex drive
  • Change in appetite
  • Tiredness
  • Insomnia
  • Mood swings
  • Breast tenderness
  • Bloating or stomach pain
  • Feeling irritated, or anxious

Ways To Ease The PMS Symptoms

Here are a few dos and don’ts that can help ease the symptoms of Pre-Menstrual Syndrome.

What To Do:

  • The best thing to do to avoid PMS is to exercise regularly.
  • You need to eat a healthier and balanced diet. Also, consider eating small portions of meals every 3-4 hours rather than having large meals thrice a day.
  • Yoga and meditation work for easing the symptoms of PMS, as they reduce the stress levels of your body.
  • If you are having a hard time easing the symptoms of PMS. You can take a painkiller. For instance, ibuprofen or paracetamol to lessen the pain.
  • A good sleep of 7-8 hours is highly recommended by experts to avoid the symptoms.
  • Also, if you are failing to control PMS symptoms. Make a diary of your cycles and the symptoms during them and consults any good specialist.

What Not To Do:

  • To reduce the effects of premenstrual syndrome, you need to cut off or at least decrease alcohol consumption in your daily life. It has a very bad effect on your period cycle.
  • Also, do not smoke or avoid any other sources that can be a result of tobacco intake.

Conclusion

PMS is truly a hard thing for women to go through. It can cause physical and mental changes in women body which are not easy to tolerate. It is generally caused by hormonal changes during the luteal phase, which is the last 16-28 days of the menstrual cycle. Also, it is said that variations in genes can be the reason for premenstrual syndrome.
